Cannabis Dosage - What is Right for You?

Last week, CannabisNow published an article, “Is Determining a Standard Marijuana Dosing Unit Possible?” The subtitle stated, “Is there a basic ‘marijuana dose’? Maybe, but so many exceptions apply that the answer may never satisfy.” That is because cannabis consumption is literally a chemistry project where your intake delivers a set measurement of ingredients that interact with your body's biology and endocannabinoid system.

In that same article Joshua Brown, a professor of pharmaceutical outcomes and policy at the University of Florida, was quoted as saying “... it is unlikely that a ‘one size fits all’ definition will capture both nonmedical and medical use of cannabis and may be insufficient for constructing comparisons between administration routes.”

If a pharmaceutical expert cannot provide prudent guidance on cannabis dosage standardization, how can cannabis consumers determine what is right for them.

Here is some guidance for you to determine the appropriate dose for you.

1) Find cannabis products with a LucidID on the packaging.

2) Scan the LucidID on the product and read the dosage recommendations provided by the cannabis brand. We highly recommend, as so many others have stated, that you “start low and go slow.” You can always add more to your consumption, but you cannot eliminate what you have already consumed.

3) Use the LucidID App and record your experience using the specific product and ingested amount of consumption. The app includes a personal and private stash cabinet feature to allow you to journal usage and the effects you have experienced. Use this log as your cheat sheet for future consumption of the same product.

We also encourage you to use cannabis responsibly and this means that different doses are warranted at different times and based upon planned activities.

There is no perfect way to plan the appropriate dose of cannabis, but there are ways to cautiously experiment what is right for you. Follow the guidance provided above and enjoy your cannabis experiences.
